On this date in 2001, four airliners were hijacked in the United States and intentionally crashed. Two of the planes hit New York City's World Trade Center twin towers, which collapsed shortly afterward. Another plane hit the Pentagon building in Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after the passengers fought back against the hijackers.

On this date in 1953, the Swanson Company began selling its first "TV Dinner". The first pre-packaged frozen dinner was a Thanksgiving meal of turkey, frozen peas, and sweet potatoes. The name, TV Dinner, came from the shape of the tray the meal was heated and served on...similar in appearance to the front of a 1950's television set. The original TV Dinner sold for 98 cents.
